Re: Share your Marketing Tips and Tricks

It is hard for me to believe that so few of you are willing to share or join in this discussion !
The Dictionary says the meaning of the word Forum is:

1. a public meeting or assembly for open discussion
2. a public facility to meet for open discussion

It does not say:

1. a place for each person to sell their own products

With so many intelligent marketing professional and novice marketers out there, I would think that many of you would understand the value of giving and sharing a little of yourself by contributing to this discussion.

I Can't believe it is so Hard to get a real Discussion going on a Forum.

Everyone wants to sell me something, but know one is willing to contribute to a free discussion that could Help each other.

The Dictionary says a Friend is:

a person who gives assistance; patron; supporter

You all want your friends to be your Patron and buy what you are selling.

You all want your friends to be your Supporter,s, and promote your product,s so you can make more money.
You promote your products an programs by putting them on your friends Pages.

What about the Give Assistance Part?

Who wants a bunch of selfish friends, who just want to promote themselves?

Do You want friends like that?
In reality, How long would you keep a friend like that and consider them a real friend.

Without the giving and sharing part of the equation, there is No Friendship, Only a bunch of people trying to sell themselves and their products.
That is a Marketplace.

Dictionary definition of Market-place is:

1. an open area in a town where a market is held.
2. the commercial world; the realm of business, trade, and economics.
3. any sphere considered as a place where ideas, thoughts, artistic creations, etc., compete for recognition

Are we all here on this friendship site, to compete with each other?

Well that's all of my thoughts on the subject at this time.

I have Re-Posted the first Discussion Below.

Please feel free to add your thoughts and feelings on this discussion.

Trying to be a Friend,

Jess Do It - Be A Friend

Help Your Fellow Outerspacer,s, Whats Your Free Marketing Tips and Tricks.
-------------------------------
How about a discussion that will help us " All "' in some way.
How about Marketing Tips and Tricks .

Instead of just trying to sell everyone something,
how about giving a little of your knowledge and expertise that may help others reach their goals.

Tell everyone a great way that you advertise that works for you.
Why you like the ad site and anything else you want everyone to know.

Tell everyone your favorite Web Host, why you like it, what it includes and how much it costs.

Tell everyone the hardest thing you had to learn about Internet Marketing and how you overcame it,

Tell everyone a Tip or Trick that you know or learned that helped you in your business, and it will help others also.

Giving is a act of kindness to another person and expecting nothing in return and the kindness is returned ten fold.

I look forward to your posts.

Your Kind Hearted Friend,

Jess

P.S.

My Tip Is:

I do a lot of advertising on Free Advertising Websites, and I have found that I get the best response by placing ads in unusual places. If I am selling a weight loss program, I place ads in the fashion section, or food section.
If I am selling vacation packages I don't post them in the Topics, I post them in Alaska, Greenland.
Well that's my first Tip.
Lets see what you all add and I may post more.

Hi Jess

You make some exremely valid points in your post and I agree with most of them!

I find that a lot of people use the forums on many sites to post adverts for their businesses - and I am guilty of that too. But I would like to partake in discussions as well and tips and tricks seem like a valid topic to me!

Most of my advertising is on free ad sites too having very little advertising budget. The nature of my business (on-line games) means that interenet advertising is much better than traditional advertising. I basically spend time scouring the web for classified ad sites and then post ads in relevant sections. I particulary pay attention to the Malaysian, Indian and Chinese pages as I get more response from them.

What are other peoples thoughts on this?

Paul

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your input to my discussion.
I too advertise for games and entertainment products, and I find I get the best response from placing ads in VideoGames for Sale, or Entertainment products.
If you don't already do that yourself, try it.

Here is a few more thoughts and tips

I agree that we need to find new venues to market to. I feel that traffic exchanges are a waste of time as everyone wants to sell you something, and almost know one wants to buy anything. Sure my traffic count gos up at my site, but my sales don't. All I get is a ton more emails from more people trying to sell me their programs.
It is hard to sell ice to Eskimos, but easy to sell to people in the tropics, where it is hot. Finding Hot market places is not so easy. Of course there are the newbies to marketing, and everyone is jumping on them to sell them their programs and e-books, but most of them have no money to spend, that's why they are trying to make money. And being a near newbie myself, I ended up a bunch of the same stuff, just a different pile, and nothing that I didn't know already. A lot of words that don't really tell you anything. I wasted my share of money when I first started in this business. But I realised that the emails that prompted me to Buy, were the best Info I received.
TIP #2
The E-Mail that made me want to buy, was my Key. Take that e-mail, change it to suit your program, and use it to your list.
Tip # 3
You Don't Have a List !
Every person that ever sent you a E-mail is your list.
Harvest every Name and E-mail Address of your In box and your Junk Mail.
I copy and paste them onto my Note Pad about once a week.
Like I said before, people that are trying to market to you, are not much at buying from you, unless they think that they can make a lot of money from what you are selling them.

Another thing that I found is that you need to shop around before you buy. I have paid for programs that I later found for FREE.
I am a Free Marketer.
If I can't get it for Free, or get into a program for Free, I will not get it, or into the Program.
I refuse to Pay anyone Money to make money.
When I Find a Free Program, or Software that I find is Helping me, I post it up on my website for everyone that visits to have for FREE.
I also post programs and software that I find Great Savings on.
I have been offered things for hundreds of $$ and later found the same thing at another site for $10.00, and the same thing for FREE at Give away sites.
It Pays to shop around, or let " Jessdoit for you" and keep you eye on my website for things that may help you in yours.
Now that was not trying to sell you something. LOL
That was trying to Give you something to help you.

I look forward to mor Posts.

Thats a good point Jess - it makes sense to target that area. I have done so on a couple of sites.

For classified ad sites my top two favorite with "great results" is craigslist and backpage.com Not only a good lead source but like discussed here, it can be catogory and city targeted. Always use appropriate catogories, you would be wasting alot of time otherwise. Great froum Jess! Thanks for giving your input too, Paul :)

Hi Jess, I am very new to internet marketing, and to be honest knew nothing about it until my husband who also knew nothing took me to some Internet Marketing seminars last year. He bought some expensive packages, and most of them are still in their boxes!!
We, "I' have since spent a lot of time on the net, as well as working with people to put our particular expertise into web programs, and have found most of the "Free" advertising programs have not been a lot of help, other than flooding my email box with literally thousands of offers. However having said that I did receive a great one from Crystal and wouldn't be here writing to you now if I hadn't.
I have found a few programs that I have joined, and we will promote them on our links page through our sites when we eventually get them all up and running, I have chosen ones that reflect what we do, eg our field is Alternative Health, so Healthy Chocolate fits well with that.

My biggest problems have been trying to communicate by email with a graphic artist from an expensive "package" who did not have a great deal of understanding of written English, and was not accessible by phone, and the original web master who talked in HTML files etc, of which I have no understanding.
Things improve however and it is reading the posts and this forum which assists me, so thank you for that.

I like this discussion as it gives different points of view on how to best advertise for as close to free as possible :D

I too don't like to pay for something that I could probably find for free later on...I also have a lot of good friends online that I can go to for advice...free video trainings on almost any topic - my problem is not enough hours in a day to learn everything I want to about online marketing!

My one friend and mentor Jeremy has taught me how to use backpage to my advantage to target anyone in a biz that needs free tools and leads - I have followed his instructions and now get leads on a regular basis...of course more when I do more - but that is how it goes!

So I'd like to offer up this free system to people here at MOS -

www.freeleadcapturetoday.ws

Please review it and see if you would like to add it to your marketing - why not it is free? And you get to meet Jeremy and get free training from him, as well as tools that are low cost and effective.

Hope this helps some of you !

It is a bit old, but the tips are solid, and very Helpful to New Marketers.

Are You Viral?

By Denise Hall (c) 2003

No, I'm not asking if you have a cold. Or if you're spreading a
computer virus.

I'm talking about your business. Do you have hundreds of
visitors to your website everyday? Are you making lots of sales?
Can you afford to quit your day job?

If the answer to these questions is "no" maybe you need to
revamp your business plan.

A fellow ezine publisher recently asked me how I get new
subscribers to my newsletter.

The key is to PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE! And when you're done,
PROMOTE some more! I can't stress that enough.

You don't have to be an ezine publisher to use these resources.
They pertain to running any Internet business. Everyone needs to
get VIRAL!

What exactly does that mean?

It means spreading the word about your business every possible
way and everywhere you can. It means making your name and your
website known to the world! There are many ways to do this.

Advertising in ezines gets good results because they have
targeted audiences. Subscribers are reading the information
provided so they can learn. They're also looking for quality
money-making opportunities, good advertising resources and tools
to help them with their businesses.

There are many directories available to find quality newsletters
and ezines. This is just a small sampling:

http://ezinexchange.com/index.html?m=56364207 http://www.freezineweb.com/more-directories.html http://www.ezineworld.com/index.php3?refid=1208

Banner exchanges are a good way to advertise, too. We all see
banners displayed at just about every website we visit. If a
banner catches our attention we click on it, don't we? Get the
point?

A banner exchange means your banner is displayed on other
websites in exchange for displaying their banner on your
website. It's a free service.

Here are a few sites that offer banner exchanges:

http://freeautobot.com
http://www.adtactics.com/index.php?ac=itsallfree2002

This website is just FREE banners for you. No exchange is
necessary. Check it out here:

http://www.unlimitedbanners.com/?a=gifts_n_things2002

Most duplicated websites come with banner URLs and information
explaining how to use your banner for exchanges. However, if you
don't have a banner for your business or newsletter, or if you'd
just like to have a different one, you can make them here for
free:

http://www.addesigner.com

Do you have a knack for writing? If so, consider writing
articles to submit to ezines. Most publishers accept guest
articles from their readers. At the end of each article you can
add a resource box containing your name, business name and
website URL or newsletter subscription information.

Other sites to submit your articles:

http://www.MakingProfit.com
http://www.ideamarketers.com
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/articlesubmission http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freezinecontent http://groups.yahoo.com/group/I_Need_Content

Submitting your site to search engines and directories is a
MUST! If you don't, you're losing potential customers because
they can't find you!

But please submit your website only once every 30 days or so.
Otherwise, the search engines think you're SPAMMING them.

Here is a good way to put your search engine submissions on
autopilot:

http://www.worldwidepromoter.com/?itsallfree

Other types of advertising include safelists, classified ads,
FFA (Free For All links) pages and ad or message boards. This
website contains several suggestions:

http://www.mylinksite.com/tons_of_offers

Startpage programs will also produce traffic to your website.
They can be joined for free and you can purchase more credits if
you'd like. Here are a few good ones:

http://PowerFulHits.com/?ref=200 http://QuietSurfer.com/?ref=1880 http://www.magnetichits.com/default.asp?userid=its_all_free2002

Some people think startpage programs are a waste of time. But
you never know who might see your website!

Exchanging links with other website owners will also bring
traffic to your website. This is similar to banner exchanges but
these can be either banner or text links.

Each time you visit a site or read an ezine check to see if the
website owner participates in link exchanges. Send them an
e-mail and swap links with them.

Take advantage of every opportunity you find to send feedback
and profiles to ezines that you read. Publishers normally allow
a 2 or 3 line signature file with your submission.

If you're an ezine publisher ad swaps are a great way to gain
subscribers and visitors to your website. Similar to link
exchanges, you simply trade ezine ads with other publishers.

The internet contains millions of websites. Becoming viral means
linking to as many of them as possible. The more you link to
other sites, the more visitors you'll receive. This will also
give you higher rankings in the search engines.

In a nutshell, if you don't make your website well-known, you'll
be invisible.

You don't want to be invisible, do you? Of course not!

My tip is, before you first sign into a company, check the credentials of the person sponsoring you, make sure he/she's clean of any past scams or criminal activity. Remember, "you're known by the company you keep". Then if you decide to join, be wary of your sponsor sending you sample marketing emails for you to use in your campaign especially if they tell you, "Just replace my link with yours". That don't always work, my experience is that the link will redirect to your sponsor's webpage even though you replace it with your representative ID. If you'd like to see proof of this, just email me.

Hello Lucy,
Thank-you for your valued in-put.
Yes, it is sad to say, that there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there using good people and stealing there commissions. That is why it is so important to use a Link Cloak er, to hide the numbers at the end of your link. Some people spend all day surfing ad sites and changing your number with their own, and stealing your efforts and commissions.
I use My Tiny URL.com to cloak mine, and I have a Banner Buddy the I use where html is accepted, and on my website to change my links.

I have to go for now.
Be back later.
