Why I love a Sandwhich
We Filipinos love to eat rice...in every meal, sometimes even during snacks. This is one of my biggest adjustments when I moved here in the US...eating
sandwhiches during lunch. For me, a sandwhich is not as filling...not as tasty - specially COLD sandwhiches. It's an alien concept and even after 9 years of living here - I still hate sandwhiches.
I try to eat rice as much as I can even during lunch time. Good thing there are Chinese restaurants around.
But in the worl…

PAUL’S PRISON EPISTLES AFTER THE ACTS PERIOD
Part III
We are now in a position to approach the writings of the Apostle Paul with the consciousness that through them we have the message of the exalted Christ to us and “for us Gentiles”. As we search the seven post-Acts epistles, we shall look in vain for the repeated references to the Jew – to Israel nationally, and to Abraham as found in the earlier writings. The word “Jew” only occurs once and then negatively (Col. 3:11); Israel twice, once n…

PAUL’S PRISON EPISTLES AFTER THE ACTS PERIOD
Part II
This age is predominantly a Gentile one, so can we find any Scriptures written after the Acts (recording Israel’s setting aside) which are addressed specifically to Gentiles without being associated with Israel nationally? Can we find a New Testament writer who is commissioned by the Ascended Christ to minister to Gentiles alone? The answer is “yes”, and that man is the Apostle Paul. After the Acts period Paul wrote seven more epistles. They…

PAUL’S PRISON EPISTLES AFTER THE ACTS PERIOD
Taken from “The Unfolding Purpose of God” by Stuart Allen
After the world disorganization and failure of the nations recorded in Genesis chapter eleven, we have one man, Abraham, and his seed picked out by God to be a channel of blessing to the whole earth. They were to be a priestly kingdom (Exod. 19:3-6), holy intermediaries between God and the nations, dispensing His laws and His truth. Although they forfeited all this under the first covenant of…

II Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We have learned, and we are learning, many wonderful truths from God's Word. "Right division" is, beyond question, the Spirit's Key to true biblical knowledge - and by it we shall stand before our Lord "approved", or we shall bow there in shame and loss.
Some folks have a bit of a problem with the words "Rightly Dividing". To them it suggests a weakening - as a…

Freedom is a subject much in the news today, but few know of the true freedom which is in Christ.
A much used Bible reference on this is John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” This is used many times as a salvation theme, but actually it was spoken to very religious (but lost) Jews. Even borrowed out of its context, this verse has a wonderful message for everyone today. In verse 36 of the same chapter, our Lord refers to Himself as the Son, “If the Son ther…

A story is told of two artists commissioned to compete in painting a picture depicting peace. One painted a valley of beautiful trees and flowers surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The other painted a storm-tossed scene in which a little bird was shown peacefully and securely nested in the cleft of a rock. The judges decided on this picture as being more true to life.
There has never been any true or lasting peace in this present world. The nearest thing to true peace that anyone can experien…

So many are puzzled about the question, WHAT IS TRUTH FOR TODAY? They open the Bible at random and read. They find something in one place which seems to contradict what they find in another. Many give up after a while. They do not know which way to turn. The only way out for them is to listen to what some preacher or teacher has to say and follow him.
But one can rightly divide the Word and find for himself what is TRUTH FOR TODAY. From Gen. 1-11 all the truth that is given is given for mankind…

We can know little about God unless He chooses to reveal Himself. Thankfully He has so chosen.
A search of the Scriptures will reveal many things about Him and we can piece together a very detailed description of those aspects which He has chosen to reveal. While some of these aspects are scattered here and there throughout the Bible and demand much searching to find them, there are some passages which pulsate with wonderful revelations one after another and give broad views of the wonder and p…

One of our readers asks: "When the Bible tells us to fear God (e.g. 1 Peter 2:17), what exactly does it mean, and why?"
The short answer to the question is that we are to revere God and honour Him, and live our lives accordingly, rather than be frightened of Him.
The original words which have most often been translated "fear" in our English Bibles are the Greek words 'phobeomai' and 'phobos' (from which we get our word "phobia", meaning a fear of something), and the Hebrew words yare' and yira…

If this question was addressed to six people it is possible that six different answers would be given: one might say he is a good living man, another that he is a member of a church or chapel, or that he is a person who does charitable work in aiding needy people, and so on. Let us look at the word `Christian’ again, and suppose we pronounce it differently, calling it CHRISTian, it will remind us that such a person has some relationship to Christ in the first place.
If we ask in what way, we sh…

Anyone who has made a careful, earnest, intelligent study of the Word of God, applying the rule laid down in 2 Tim. 2:16, can hardly fail to notice how frequently God's order is reversed. Attempts are made to bring to agreement things that are opposite and to unite things that God has purposed to keep separate. Things that are harmonious are made to disagree; things that are the same are set over against one another.
As an illustration, we call your attention to the following:
1. THE TEACHINGS…
